Lauren Dunn

A recent award winning graduate of the Victorian College of Arts, Lauren’s practice is deeply rooted in engaging in the contemporary questions surrounding photographic practice through a material outcome. Her work particularly investigates society’s consumptive relationship to the image (found and made) as an indicator to broader behavioural trends and habits. This research has led to the expansion of the idea of the photographic thinking through other materials particularly neon which reflects her interest in commercial exchange and desire.

Lauren also uses video as a humorous and playful critique of advertising and popular culture. Viewers of Lauren’s works are usually drawn in by the beauty or boldness but on further consideration discover that a broader and political discussion can be had if desired.
